The Continuing Story of McDowell House
The collection records the changes at the McDowell House Museum in Danville, Kentucky over the last twenty-four years since the last oral history project was conducted on the McDowell House. Interviews in this collection focus on renovations to the house, women's medical history in the region, and Dr. Ephraim McDowell's development of ovarian tumor removal surgery. The project includes interviews with modern doctors about the surgery performed two hundred years ago by Dr. McDowell when he performed the first successful surgery to remove an ovarian tumor.
