About KOHC
Pass the Word unlocks the Kentucky oral history community to the world by providing access to interviews from repositories scattered around the Commonwealth. Pass the Word is a roadmap for users showing which interviews are available at different Kentucky repositories. Please verify with the home repository if you have trouble accessing an interview.
The Kentucky Oral History Commission (KOHC) has fostered the development of oral history in the Commonwealth since 1976. What began as a way to tell the stories of Kentuckians during the United States Bicentennial has transformed into a commission that funds and provides access to oral histories that embody the unbridled spirit of Kentucky. Pass the Word also showcases projects developed out of oral histories and offers a way for oral history practitioners in the state to connect. Repositories are encouraged to update their Pass the Word entries as new projects are created or processed.
