History of May's Lick Oral History Project

Residents of May's Lick discuss the history of their families and the town, education, business, farming (including tobacco), hog killing, transportation, medicine, religion, funeral practices, recreation, and social life. Many people share memories and stories about the Civil War, enslavement, World War I and World War II, Night Riders, the Great Depression, and prohibition. Several interviewees discuss segregation, the history of Blacks in May's Lick, and the Lynching of Grant Smith. One of the interviewees, Sidney M. Boone, claims to be a descendant of Daniel Boone.
