Henry Ward Oral History Project

This extensive life history with Henry Ward covers his childhood experiences; his life during the Great Depression and his (concurrent) early years in the newspaper business and in the state legislature; his extensive experience in state parks and the creation of the interstate system in Kentucky. He also discusses his experiences in politics, with particular emphasis on the gubernatorial election of 1967, which Ward lost to Republican Louie Nunn. Ward also discusses many of his colleagues - many of whom were luminaries in Kentucky politics - including Alben Barkley, Happy Chandler, Earle Clements, Edward Prichard, Jr., Edward Breathitt, and Bert Combs.
