90 minutes. African American Mr. W. A. Howard discusses his slave ancestors and his grandfather's enlistment with Union troops in Owensboro during the Civil War. He describes his experience in World War II. He discusses farming, segregation, the Civil Rights Movement, and change over time...


This project documents well established African American residents of Adair County. Interviewees discussed family history, education, religion and childhood. Topics included segregation, integration, and civil rights activities.
