Updates from the Veterans History Project (VHP): A Lasting Impact of War: VHP Launches PTSD Digital Feature – Dispatch March 6, 2017

Weaving a common thread from World War II through recent conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq, “PTSD: The Lasting Impact of War” curates 12 veterans’ PTSD catalysts, emotional hardships, and eventual diagnoses.
Whether it results from experiences in battle or as a prisoner of war, or from trauma such as sexual assault, the effects of PTSD can be severe, and long lasting. This 55th “Experiencing War” feature gives voice to their struggle and can be accessed – and shared – http://www.loc.gov/vets/stories/ex-war-ptsd.html.
The Mission of the Veterans History Project of the Library of Congress American Folklife Center is to collect, preserve and make accessible the personal accounts of American war veterans so that future generations may hear directly from veterans and better understand the realities of war.
