Dr. Clark, who was Chair of History at the University of Kentucky, tells of his first hand involvement in the Lyman Johnson case which led to desegregation of UK. He provides the context of other court cases, attitudes at UK and in the community, and southern perspectives gleaned from interviews for his book, The Emerging South (1961).
