She talked about going home every day for lunch and explains that the students at lunch who recieved a free lunch had to work in the school to compensate for the meal. She worked at Union Underwear for 28 years sewing the sleeves in shirts and raised 3 children as a single mother. She discusses places in The Pike where African Americans congregated to dance and get together.
