Sara Elliott, curator at the Kentucky Historical Society, discusses the Old Capitol as art that is functional. She describes the paintings, the chandeliers, the plaster medallions and the architecture. She discusses the history of the building, including its construction and occupation during the Civil War. She talks about Governor William Gobel's very short term in office, his stand on worker's right and the controversy surrounding the erection of a statue on the spot where he was assassinated.
