The Kentucky Oral History Commission, an agency of state government, was created in 1976 to promote and assist in the development of oral history programs throughout Kentucky that document and preserve the twentieth-century history of the state. Interviews in the commission's collection are conducted by volunteer interviewers in county or community projects, through special commission-directed projects, or by commission grant recipients. Copies of approximately 98% of the collection are located at county libraries or the institutions. Copyright belongs the Kentucky Oral History Commission. Authorization must be given by KOHC to use or publish by any means archival material to which KOHC holds copyright.
