The Plantation series includes interviews about sugar and cotton plantations primarily in Louisiana but also in other southern states. Subjects include the lives of African Americans on the plantations; African American folk artist Caroline Dormon; the history of the American South; Melrose Plantation; Little Eva Plantation; Winter Quarters Plantation; Laurel Hill Plantation; Allendale Plantation; plantation bells; and the Cane River Creole National Heritage Area. The series also features recordings of sessions of the 1996 First World Plantation Conference in Baton Rouge.
