Albert Benjamin "Happy" Chandler, born in 1898 in Corydon, served in the Kentucky state senate (1929--1931), was lieutenant governor (1931--1935) and governor (1935--1939, 1955--1959) of Kentucky, was appointed United States senator in 1939 and elected for a second term in 1942, and was a major league baseball commissioner (1945--1951). In this collection Chandler, his political allies and opponents, his staff members and friends, historians, and baseball players discuss his life and career.
